Lupin chief executive wins Entrepreneur of the Year award

Lupin chief executive Vinita Gupta has been named the winner of Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year 2012 Award in the Health Services and Technology category in Maryland.
Ms Gupta was selected by a panel of judges and presented with the industry accolade at a special gala at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront at the end of June.
The award recognises the Lupin chief's success in a range of categories, including financial performance, innovation and personal commitment to the business and communities.
Commenting on the accolade, Ms Gupta said the company has been fortunate enough to enjoy multiple opportunities to grow and differentiate, while introducing a range of affordable generics and valuable brands.
"The passion, dedication and entrepreneurial spirit of our team have set us apart from the competition," she added.
In its full 2012 financial year, Lupin saw its gross sales rise by 22 percent to just over 70 billion rand (5.5 billion pounds), while its net sales also grew by 22 percent.
