Grenier Bio-One launch new safety needle

Grenier Bio-One has launched a new piece of medical equipment, the Vacuette Premium Safety Needle System, that it claims will work closely with the EU's new guidelines for the prevention of injury when using sharp objects in the healthcare sector.
The company described its new development as "a passive safety product of the newest generation", noting that it is especially useful because its safety mechanism is engaged at all times and does not need to be turned on by the user.
This reduces the risk of practitioners hurting themselves or their patients with the device before activating its needle-protecting cap.
Furthermore, Grenier Bio-One claimed that the special shape of the needle reduces the stress endured by patients during difficult procedures such as venipuncture.
Its safety mechanism makes it especially suitable for patients at risk of suffering from an infection, concluded the firm.
This comes after Novo Nordisk won the red dot Best of the Best prize for 2012 for its unique insulin injection pen the NovoPen 5.
