Boehringer Ingelheim appoints board member for animal health

Boehringer Ingelheim has announced the appointment of Dr Joachim Hasenmaier to its board of managing directors in a role that places him in charge of the company's animal health and consumer healthcare operations.
He will take up his new role on October 1st 2012, moving into the position from his current post as regional business manager for northern Europe and Canada, while he served as head of the animal health division in the past.
The new board member also brings to the role extensive experience in the animal health sector from his career prior to joining Boehringer Ingelheim, as he has worked as a consultant both in Germany and internationally.
Christian Boehringer, chairman of the shareholders' committee of Boehringer Ingelheim, said: "Recognising the special focus of animal health and the consumer healthcare business on the end customer, it is meaningful to combine responsibilities in one board division."
The company's animal health division was founded in the 1950s and has been operating in the UK since 1980.
