WL Gore and Associates (Gore) has been presented with a prize at the 2012 Medical Design Excellence Awards for its Gore Hybrid Vascular Graft.
The device was selected as a gold winner in the implant and tissue replacement products category by a panel of independent jurors, who evaluated entries based on their design qualities and clinical effectiveness.
Gore's vascular graft is an expanded polytetrafluoroethylene vascular prosthesis that provides a streamlined solution for challenging dialysis access, aortic debranching and arterial bypass procedures.
It combines a number of established Gore technologies and offers benefits such as a proven thromboresistant surface and improved ease of insertion in difficult-to-reach areas.
Chuck Biggerstaff, associate with the Gore venous access business, said: "This is a golden win and an example of our commitment to providing superior performance through design."
Last month, the company announced the launch of a new clinical quality improvement study focusing on its Gore Dualmesh Biomaterial product.
