AAH Pharmaceuticals provides free diabetes screenings
AAH Pharmaceuticals has offered free diabetes screenings to UK patients to mark the national Diabetes Awareness Week initiative held earlier this month.
Conducted in association with charity group Diabetes UK, the promotion saw AAH assessing members of the public for symptoms of type 2 diabetes, while also informing them on how to recognise these signs themselves.
Support information on foot care for diabetics was provided as part of the initiative, while Diabetes UK also distributed leaflets raising awareness of essential health checks, reports Chemist and Druggist.
According to AAH, the pharmacy sector is ideally placed to help address the fact that around 850,000 people in the UK are currently living with undiagnosed diabetes.
AAH's head of marketing services Ajit Malhi said: "If just one person benefits from an early intervention check, then we can be satisfied that we are supporting our customers in their bid to ease these problems, while helping to improve [their] health."
This comes after the company recently called on the government to do more to give pharmacies a bigger role in the provision of diabetes care.
