BD launches new flow cytometer cell sorter
BD has announced the launch of the BD FACSJazz Cell Sorting System, an affordable new flow cytometer cell sorter for a variety of life science applications.
The BD FACSJazz Cell Sorting System simplifies cellular isolation and analysis for researchers requiring high sample integrity across a broad range of next-generation genomic research fields.
Featuring high sensitivity to identify and isolate target cells for up to eight parameters, the device has a small footprint and incorporates user feedback from a 2011 survey, which highlighted the need for greater ease of use.
Other beneficial features include its violet laser and pulse processing – which enhance live dead cell discrimination and cell cycle analysis – as well as its digital controls and factory-optimised settings for the precise isolation of cells.
Alberto Mas, worldwide president for BD Biosciences, said: "We believe that this product will complement the recent and very rapid advances in genomic studies where sample integrity is critical for next-generation sequencing and sequence detection."
During the fiscal quarter ending on March 31st 2012, the company experienced a 3.6 percent year-on-year increase in revenues, thanks largely to its medical and diagnostics business units.
