Covidien launches Nellcor SpO2 module for Philips patient monitor

25th June 2012

Covidien has announced the launch of its new Nellcor SpO2 single parameter module, for use with the Philips IntelliVue patient monitoring platform.

The device incorporates Nellcor OxiMax pulse oximetry technology to offer the most complete picture of a patient's respiratory function status, thus allowing clinicians to detect and treat potentially life-threatening events.

It functions by taking cardiac-based readings of SpO2 levels and pulse rate, two important vital signs that can offer an early warning of serious complications.

Nellcor SpO2 is compatible with the company's full range of Nellcor sensors and is intended for use with the Philips IntelliVue MP40 to MP90 monitors, as well as the Philips IntelliVue MX 600, MX 700 and MX 800 devices.

Robert White, president of respiratory and monitoring solutions at Covidien, said: "Continuous monitoring of oxygen saturation through pulse oximetry technology improves clinical decision-making affecting patient safety."

Last week, the company launched V-Loc, a new reload for its Endo Stitch and SILS Stitch products.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801392795-ADNFCR
