Covidien launches V-Loc knotless suture reload
20 June 2012 15:30 in Medical Company Product News
Covidien has announced the launch of an innovative knotless suturing device called V-Loc, a reload for its existing Endo Stitch and SILS Stitch products.
The new device is billed as the world's first knotless suture reload for use in laparoscopic and single-incision procedures, meaning it can help to greatly shorten bariatric surgery operations.
A recent preclinical study suggests that the combination of automated needle-passing technology and knotless suturing offered by this system can help surgeons to reduce the time required to suture inside the body by 35 to 42 percent.
Paul Hermes, vice-president and chief technology officer for Covidien Surgical Solutions, said: "Covidien is committed to the advancement of bariatric surgery technology and offers a full portfolio of products and services to support bariatric surgeons, their practices and patients."
This comes after the company introduced its new Endo GIA Radial Reload with Tri-Staple technology for colorectal surgery applications last month.
