Boston Scientific’s Latitude NXT system begins use in Europe

Boston Scientific has announced that its Latitute NXT remote patient management system has commenced usage in Europe.

A pacemaker patient at the Camposampiero Hospital in Verona was the first European patient to begin using the system, which provides clinicians with access to key medical data via the internet.

It offers doctors the ability to receive important information and notifications on patient health through multiple outlets – such as text, email or hospital medical databases – while patients benefit from its wireless technology and enhanced battery life.

Data from the Altitude Survival study showed its ability to support proactive treatment decisions and verify improvement of clinical outcomes.

Michael Onuscheck, senior vice-president and president for the EMEA region at Boston Scientific, said: "An increasing percentage of patients needing cardiac rhythm therapy are indicated for pacemakers and we are pleased to continue to innovate technology to support positive patient outcomes and quality of life."

Earlier this month, the company completed its takeover of Cameron Health, bolstering its presence in the cardiac rhythm management sector further.
