The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) has appointed Nick Stace as its new chief executive and secretary.
Mr Stace will take up his post on September 3rd 2012, vacating his current position as chief executive officer of Choice, the Australian equivalent of British consumer group Which?.
Over the last three-and-a-half years, he has helped Choice become the most trusted media entity in Australia, while in the past he has also served as deputy chief executive of Which? and as director of strategic communications to then-prime minister Gordon Brown.
The role of chief executive and secretary is being newly created at the college, with the organisation's executive functions previously led by the registrar.
RCVS president Jerry Davies said: "With his impressive track record, I believe that we have a chief executive who will lead the college into a new phase of modernisation and development."
Last month, the RCVS welcomed news that its former president Professor Sandy Trees has been appointed to the House of Lords.
