Boehringer Ingelheim wins award for family-friendly employment

15th June 2012

Boehringer Ingelheim has won an award for the successful implementation of measures to help its staff achieve a healthy and family-friendly work/life balance.

The company earned a work and family audit certificate from the berufundfamilie initiative of the Hertie Foundation, thanks to its ongoing efforts to meet the individual needs of its employees.

Examples of these efforts include the provision of creche places, the creation of an emergency childcare centre and the organisation of holiday academies for children, as well as its flexible working and personnel development policies.

Professor Wolfram Carius, member of the board of managing directors responsible for personnel at Boehringer Ingelheim, said: "We are delighted about the new certification. It shows that our efforts to create optimum conditions for our employees are successful."

In 2011, the company achieved a net sales total of 13.2 billion euros (10.72 billion pounds), which represented a year-on-year increase of 6.2 percent, thanks in large part to last year's successful Pradaxa launch.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801385567-ADNFCR
