Covidien launches Nellcor Bedside SpO2 monitoring system

Covidien has launched the Nellcor Bedside SpO2 Patient Monitoring System across Europe after receiving CE Mark accreditation for the product.

Equipped with OxiMax technology, the system continuously monitors oxygen saturation and pulse rates among adult, paediatric and neonatal patients, as well as offering clinicians instant access to comprehensive trending respiratory information.

Its enhanced digital signal processing provides enhanced precision, while its SatSeconds alarm management technology is capable of differentiating between serious and minor events.

Other benefits of the system include its intuitive multicolour screen and its adherence to medical electrical equipment safety standards.

Dr Carmen Walbert, vice-president of medical affairs for Covidien Respiratory and Monitoring Solutions in the EMEA region, said: "Healthcare professionals in low-acuity areas of the hospital need critical patient information at their fingertips so they can respond quickly to evolving patient conditions."

This comes after the company last week introduced its Endo GIA Radial Reload with Tri-Staple technology, which is designed for use in colorectal surgery applications.
