Alliance Boots partners with BBC Media Action

Alliance Boots has announced a new partnership with the international development charity BBC Media Action, joining its Corporate Leaders Group for an initial period of one year.

The company is the first healthcare partner of the not-for-profit body – formerly known as the BBC World Service Trust – and is now set to play a supporting role in its various health-promoting initiatives worldwide.

This corporate partnership scheme is aimed at leading companies in their respective sectors that are known to have well-developed corporate social responsibility programmes in place.

Ornella Barra, chairman of the social responsibilities committee of Alliance Boots, said BBC Media Action's mission complements the company's existing activities in this field.

She added: "This affiliation with BBC Media Action is a natural corporate social responsibility (CSR) fit for Alliance Boots as partnerships play a pivotal role in our CSR agenda."

Last month, the firm posted a 23 billion pound revenue total for its 2011/12 business year, representing an 18.4 percent increase on the year before.
