Quintiles signs access agreements for real-world patient data
Quintiles has signed a number of licensing agreements that will provide it with access to significant quantities of real-world patient data, for use in clinical research.
The deals will allow the contract research organisation to access de-identified electronic medical record data representing 40 million patient lives, drawn primarily from US-based medical practices and health systems.
It represents a sample of the healthcare experiences and treatment of patients across all therapeutic categories in various settings, while data from other countries is also expected to be added at a later date.
This will allow Quintiles' researchers to help its healthcare sector clients to better understand real-world treatments and outcomes, while also informing the design of future clinical studies to enhance drug development efficiency.
Dr Richard Gliklich, president of Quintiles' real-world and late phase division Quintiles Outcome, said: "I believe access to this data by experienced researchers will promote more efficient clinical trial planning and design, patient recruitment and other clinical development services."
Last month, the company was named as one of the UK's best workplaces by the Great Place to Work Institute.
