Sanofi and Genzyme support global community on World MS Day

31st May 2012

Sanofi and Genzyme have carried out a series of initiatives across the globe to mark World MS Day, an annual event designed to raise awareness of multiple sclerosis (MS).

To coincide with the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation-organised event, the companies have conducted activities and new programmes across their global network designed to mobilise and inspire people living with MS.

In the US, an online interactive scheme called Everyday Matters was launched alongside the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, while fundraising efforts and seminars were organised in Spain, France, the UK, Italy and The Netherlands.

This represents the fourth annual World MS Day, with the event aimed at bolstering understanding of the impact MS has on more than two million patients worldwide.

Genzyme's president and chief executive officer David Meeker said: "Genzyme employees are mobilising globally to help increase understanding of multiple sclerosis and provide support for the community in very meaningful ways."

Earlier this month, the companies were granted European and US regulatory approval to expand operations at their manufacturing facility in Waterford, Ireland.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801375916-ADNFCR
