Dentsply launches new GI restorative

28th May 2012

Dentsply has released a video comparing its new glass isomer (GI) restorative product, ChemFil Rock, with various other GI products already on the market.

The company suggested that, despite the increasing popularity of GI in paediatric and geriatric cases, further improvements can be made to the product given its brittle nature.

"In class II restorations the brittle nature of these materials has so far limited their use in permanent dentition to long-term provisional fillings," it explained.

With this in mind, Dentsply's new ChimFil Rock contains zinc-modified reactive glass fillers promoting an easier placement process.

This will also increase the toughness build-up and fracture resistance of the filling, Dentsply suggested.

It is intended to combine the flexibility of the GI filler but provide a higher level of resistance to bulk fractures.

The firm recently confirmed that Dentsply Cavitron Inserts perform better than Hu-Friedy inserts, demonstrating the greatest consistency when used with the Cavitron ultrasonic generators.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801372928-ADNFCR
