Astra Tech World Congress begins in Gothenburg

Astra Tech has commenced its World Congress event for 2012 in Gothenburg, Sweden, bringing together 3,000 participants from 50 countries.

Running from May 9th to 12th, the event will see more than 150 international speakers presenting their latest research data, based on the theme of "creating the future by going back to the roots".

The selection of Gothenburg is relevant in this respect, as it is not only the home town of Astra Tech, but is also the birthplace of the technique of osseointegration and modern implant dentistry.

Additionally, the company will use the occasion to showcase its new collaboration with WaterAid, which will aim to raise money to provide access to safe water and sanitation among poorer communities across the globe.

Lars Henrikson, senior vice president for marketing and business development at Astra Tech, said: "We have an outstanding scientific programme and look forward to an exciting congress with clients and speakers from all over the world."

Astra Tech was acquired by Dentsply last year, with the takeover helping its new parent company to report record-breaking first-quarter results earlier this month.
