Celgene appoints new general counsel

9th May 2012

Celgene has announced the appointment of Thomas Moriarty as its new general counsel and corporate secretary, taking responsibility for global legal strategy.

Mr Moriarty joins the company from the equivalent position at Medco Health Solutions, where he directed legal, regulatory, public policy and corporate governance functions, while he also served in a number of roles pertaining to pharmaceutical strategy and business development.

Prior to his time at Medco, he also operated in key legal roles at healthcare companies Merial and Merck Sharp and Dohme.

Robert Hugin, chairman and chief executive officer of Celgene, expressed confidence that Mr Moriarty's experience in strategic and legal healthcare management will make him an asset to the company.

He said: "His extensive legal background, as well as his significant leadership experience, will provide new insight and valuable perspective on the increasingly complex global healthcare environment."

Last month, the company published its financial report for the first quarter of 2012, during which it experienced a double-digit year-on-year increase in product sales.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801359077-ADNFCR
