Siemens has been granted European CE Mark approval for its new Clinitek Novus automated urine chemistry analyser.
The device, which is already available in nations such as Japan, is the latest addition to Siemens' range of urine chemistry analysers for central laboratories and is designed to handle a full range of tests.
It combines clinically proven dry-pad urine chemistry technology with an easy-to-use cassette test format, allowing labs to manage high sample volumes in a fast, simple and reliable manner.
Providing throughput of up to 240 samples per hour, it also features a digital imaging measurement system and various ergonomic features, such as a tiltable colour-touch screen and refined interface.
Dr David Stein, chief executive officer of Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics' point of care business unit, said: "In working and listening to our customers, we know that they want instruments that are easy to use, offer high throughput and plenty of walk-away time capability."
Last month, the company announced the US market launch of the world's first integrated amyloid imaging solution, for use in the detection of Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases.
