Quintiles has been named the best clinical research organisation (CRO) of the year at the annual Vaccine Industry Excellence (ViE) Awards in Washington DC.
The company was presented with the prestigious accolade following a vote among customers and a verdict delivered by an independent judging panel, demonstrating its achievements as a leader, innovator and pioneer in the vaccines industry.
Judging criteria include the range of services offered in niche areas, methods of performance improvement, quality of client relationships, achievement of milestones and the ability to create long-term partnerships.
This comes after the company was also named 2012 Asia-Pacific CRO of the year at the recent BioPharma Convention Awards.
Dr Ellen Vigdorth, vice-president for allergy, respiratory, infectious diseases and vaccines at Quintiles, said: "It is a huge achievement and underscores our commitment to the development of quality vaccines and anti-infective products."
Quintiles celebrated its 30th anniversary earlier this year and has provided clinical services for more than 150 vaccine trials since 2007, with almost 300,000 patients involved worldwide.
