Boston Scientific has announced the European market launch of its new Ingenio family of pacemakers after receiving CE Mark approval.
The new range includes the Ingenio and Advantio pacemakers and Invive cardiac resynchronisation therapy pacemakers, with one of the first product implants taking place in France earlier this month.
Advantages of these devices include their use of RightRate pacing technology, which can help to address chronotropic incompetence, while they are also fully compatible with Boston Scientific's Latitude NXT remote patient management system.
In future, the company intends to introduce products with expanded capabilities such as remote monitoring, advanced heart failure diagnostics and compatibility with magnetic resonance imaging systems.
Joe Fitzgerald, senior vice-president and president of the Boston Scientific cardiac rhythm management group, said: "The Ingenio family of pacemakers represents a significant investment in long-term innovation for pacing technologies and defines a new era of pacing for our company."
Earlier this month, the firm launched BackStop Gel, a new product for the prevention of stone migration during urologic procedures.
