Ansell has agreed a deal to acquire the protective products unit of Trelleborg, a prominent Swedish business group.
Trelleborg Protective Products (TPP) develops high-end chemical protective suits, medical patient care equipment, professional dry diving suits, escape hoods and tents/shelters, with leading brands including Trellchem and Viking.
Employing around 170 people, the business generates annual sales in the region of 19 million euros (15.64 million pounds), with around two-thirds of this total coming from European markets.
The transaction has been valued at 23.7 million euros and is expected to be completed by Ansell during the current quarter.
Ansell's chief executive officer Magnus Nicolin said: "As a leading organisation in its field with strong brands and high-end products, TPP offers Ansell growth synergies in our target verticals with complementary technologies, sales forces and distribution capabilities."
Last month, the company announced the European launch of its new Sandel healthcare safety devices, ahead of a wider global rollout later this year.
