UCB launches Parkinson’s Well-Being Map
UCB has announced the launch of a new visual tool designed to make it easier for sufferers of Parkinson's disease to discuss their conditions.
The Parkinson's Well-Being Map provides an at-a-glance summary of an individual's disease progression, including both movement-related symptoms and underlying signs such as sleep disturbance and mood changes.
It will allow patients to monitor and record information about their health and wellbeing over time, thus allowing them to communicate better with their care providers.
The map has been developed in conjunction with the European Parkinson's Disease Association, the Cure Parkinson's Trust and the Spanish Federation of Parkinson's Disease, and has been launched to mark World Parkinson's Day.
Dr Lode Dewulf, vice-president for global medical affairs at UCB, said: "We are committed to supporting people with Parkinson's by developing resources that help them to communicate their full range of symptoms to their healthcare teams and connect with each other for motivation and inspiration."
Last month, the company announced a new partnership with the University of Oxford that will see the two organisations studying various new therapies, with an initial focus on immunology and neurology treatments.
