GE Healthcare and Dyax to develop peptides for cancer research
GE Healthcare has announced a new collaboration with Dyax on the development of new peptides with potential applications in cancer research.
The alliance will see the companies developing and commercialising peptides binding to c-Met for use in colorectal, lung and liver cancer studies, with the aim of exploring potential diagnostic applications and uses as a biomarker.
In collaboration with pharmaceutical companies and academic institutions, studies will be conducted to see how the peptide can be applied to positron emission tomography, single proton emission computed tomography and optical imaging, with Dyax receiving milestone fees for its contribution of expertise and proprietary technology.
Marivi Mendizabal, head of research at GE Healthcare Medical Diagnostics, said: "Our vision is that we will be able to rapidly develop new targeted molecular diagnostics – not just for our own clinical portfolio, but as companion diagnostic offerings for our strategic biopharmaceutical partnerships."
This comes after GE Healthcare agreed a new alliance with BAC last month to create a new bioprocess affinity resin for medical research, named LambdaFabSelect.
