Cook Medical launches new bone biopsy products at SIR meeting
Cook Medical has expanded its range of bone biopsy devices at the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) annual meeting in San Francisco this week.
The company is introducing a new bone biopsy and infusion needle set called the Osteo-Site Ratchet, which provides ratchet-style 360-degree unidirectional drilling action and spade tip design for easier manual drilling.
Debuting alongside this will be the Osteo-Site Coaxial Bone Biopsy Needle Set, which includes trephine tips to allow coaxial biopsy and are compatible with any standard Osteo-Site outer cannula size.
These new devices are intended to be able to penetrate bone without causing unnecessary trauma, while streamlining procedures for interventional radiologists.
Dan Sirota, vice-president and global leader of Cook Medical's interventional radiology and critical care divisions, said: "We're pleased to introduce these products at SIR to help the interventional radiology community expand treatment options and improve patients' lives every day."
Earlier this year, the company announced plans to make a new 16.5 million euro (13.8 million pounds) investment in its Irish facility in Limerick, which will help to create new jobs in the area.
