Colgate-Palmolive receives Energy Star partner of the year award
Colgate-Palmolive has received an Energy Star partner of the year award, in recognition of its commitment to energy conservation and sustainability.
The dental supplier has won the prestigious accolade for 2012 based on its strong efforts to uphold the aims of the programme, having improved its energy efficiency by 3.5 percent compared to a 2008 baseline.
More than 110 capital projects have been implemented with the aim of delivering an estimated $4.2 million (2.66 million pounds) in annual savings, while all of the company's facilities have designated five percent of their capital expenditure budget for environmental projects.
Meanwhile, the Energy Star Challenge for Industry has been adopted by Colgate-Palmolive's own internal energy award programme globally, with the firm also making efforts to persuade its suppliers and contract manufacturers to join the partnership.
"The company recognises the importance of energy conservation and the potential consequences of climate change and is committed to acting responsibly through its global environmental sustainability efforts," said the organisation.
Earlier this month, the company named Nikesh Arora of Google to its board of directors, as part of a wider series of leadership changes.
