Parexel survey shows commercial concerns among pharma firms

20th March 2012

Parexel has published data from a new survey that highlights some of the issues and concerns currently affecting commercialisation of pharmaceutical products.

The biopharmaceutical service provider's poll revealed that 75 percent of industry professionals feel that the ability to establish a product price that is reimbursed and accepted by the market is the top concern in achieving commercial success.

However, it was also found that around 63 percent of organisations do not engage internal commercialisation personnel on matters such as reimbursement, market access and pricing until phase III clinical trials begin.

Charles Stevens, vice-president and general manager for commercialisation strategy at Parexel, said this shows the importance of earlier strategic planning initiatives.

He added: "More than ever, it is imperative in this market to prove products demonstrate value … Better reimbursement positioning enables companies to maximise commercial success and support patients in getting access to important products."

Last month, the company announced an expansion of its global Clinical Logistics Services through the opening of new facilities in the Americas.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801322012-ADNFCR
