Welch Allyn names new president and CEO

Welch Allyn has named Stephen Meyer as its new president and chief executive officer (CEO), effective from April 16th 2012.
Mr Meyer, the company's former executive vice-president and chief global business officer, will step into the top role at the medical technology firm following the retirement of Julie Shimer.
The new CEO has been with the organisation since 1981 and has held a variety of senior leadership roles in a variety of capacities, ranging from international sales and marketing to product development and general management.
He takes over from Ms Shimer, Welch Allyn's first and only female CEO to date, after she assisted the company in organising a smooth transition process.
Eric Allyn, co-chair of the board of directors for Welch Allyn, praised the outgoing executive for her contributions, while expressing confidence in the credentials of Mr Meyer.
"Steve knows and understands our products and markets and is an excellent fit with the values that have been the cornerstone of Welch Allyn for almost 100 years," he explained.
