Philips’ MRI conversion programme selected by London medical centre
Philips has announced that the City of London Medical Centre has become the first UK site to take advantage of its new MRI conversion programme.
The facility, a satellite diagnostic and treatment centre of London Bridge Hospital, has had its previous Intera system replaced with a new Achieva device, while retaining the magnet from the older installation.
This allows the centre to benefit from the operational and cost efficiency benefits associated with Achieva, while minimising building work costs, disruption and downtime.
Only eight working days were required to complete the conversion process, compared to the six-week period that would have been needed for a brand new installation.
Tracey Sheard, superintendent radiographer at City of London Medical Centre, said: "We are very happy with the new system … Philips overcame a number of unforeseen obstacles during the project but still delivered on time and with great results."
This week, the company also announced that the Cambridge and Huntingdon Breast Screening Service has invested in its MicroDose L30 mammography technology, which will deliver multiple benefits for patients.
