ALK Abello reports record performance in 2011

ALK Abello has published its financial results for 2011, a year which saw the healthcare company achieve its best ever annual performance.

The firm's revenue rose by ten percent last year to a total of 2.35 billion Danish kroner (267.44 million pounds), thanks to underlying growth in sales of allergy vaccines of five percent and extraordinarily high earnings from partnerships.

Reported operating profit for the year came to 406 million kroner, up by 41 percent from 2010, while ALK was also able to accelerate its research and development activities.

In 2012, the company expects to continue to see growth in sales and earnings, with total revenue of up to 2.4 billion kroner now forecast.

Jens Bager, president and chief executive officer of ALK, said: "Considering the historically good results in a year with international crisis and the great progress in implementing our global growth strategy, we are convinced that we can generate considerable and long-term value."

Earlier this month, the firm commenced its search for a new executive vice-president of business operations and international marketing, following the departure of Jorgen Damsbo Andersen.
