Astellas appoints global medical affairs SVP

Astellas has announced the appointment of Dr Charlotte Kremer as the new senior vice-president (SVP) of its global medical affairs division.
Dr Kremer will lead the recently established business unit in creating a unified medical perspective across regions for the company's worldwide products portfolio, leveraging her 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience.
Most recently, the firm held the position of vice-president and therapeutic area head for ophthalmology, peripheral vascular disease, rare diseases and neuroscience at Pfizer, where she led clinical development and global medical strategy initiatives.
Prior to this, she held various positions of escalating responsibility at Organon Pharmaceuticals in the Netherlands and US.
Yoshihiko Hatanaka, president and chief executive officer of Astellas Pharma, said: "Further globalising our key functions, such as medical affairs, is a top priority at Astellas because of the value it brings to the company in this competitive global business environment."
Earlier this month, the company announced data from a new phase III clinical trial of its prostate cancer therapy MDV3100, highlighting its safety and efficacy.
