Kimberly-Clark hails billion-dollar success of Kotex brand

22nd February 2012

Kimberly-Clark has announced that its popular feminine care brand Kotex passed the $1 billion (638.61 million pounds) mark in terms of global sales last year.

Following two consecutive years of growth, the Kotex range of tampons, pads and pantiliners has become the fifth Kimberly-Clark brand to achieve billion-dollar status, following the Kimberly-Clark, Huggies, Kleenex and Scott names into this category.

Kotex's performance has been attributed to the colourful, bold designs of the products and the positive, earnest marketing approach that the brand employs.

Sales of these products have helped to drive double-digit compound annual net sales growth for Kimberly-Clark's global feminine care business over the last 24 months.

Jay Gottleib, vice-president for adult and feminine care in the US, said: "Kimberly-Clark invented the feminine care category with the Kotex brand more than 90 years ago and continues to drive category growth through product and marketing innovation."

In 2011, the company recorded a 12-month sales total of $20.8 billion, which was up by six percent compared to 2010.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801299993-ADNFCR
