GE Healthcare launches new foetal heart monitoring programme

20th February 2012

GE Healthcare has announced the introduction of a new electronic foetal heart rate (FHR) monitoring programme that aims to provide clinicians with guidance on care.

The interactive web-based facility builds on the company's existing FHR service and incorporates updated clinical analysis and consensus statements, offering direct links to terminology, interpretation and management, as well as providing case studies.

Aimed at physicians, midwives, nurses and other obstetrical care staff, the training programme is designed to standardise knowledge and communication tools in a way that enhances care management, thereby enhancing safety and efficiency.

Dr Frank Miller, one of the programme's co-creators and professor at the department of obstetrics and gynaecology at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, said: "The ultimate goal is to optimise outcomes and to minimise potential sources of preventable error in intrapartum foetal monitoring, helping to reduce risk during labour and enable the best outcomes."

Last month, GE Healthcare introduced an enhanced version of its CardioLab electrophysiology recording system, which incorporates new features and performance upgrades.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801297227-ADNFCR
