Medtronic earns CE Mark for Endurant II AAA stent graft
Medtronic has been granted European CE Mark accreditation for its Endurant II stent graft for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA).
The new device has been developed in collaboration with more than 250 physicians and draws on the existing advantages of the previous Endurant model, while introducing design features that enhance its ease of use.
These include a lower-profile delivery system for enhanced access to challenging anatomies, as well as enhanced radiopacity and the addition of two new contralateral limb lengths to offer more configuration options.
Medtronic states that the launch of Endurant II will offer clinicians outside the US with more options to treat AAA patients via the minimally invasive technique of endovascular aortic repair.
Professor Hence Verhagen, chief of vascular surgery at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, said: "Endurant II offers an even better user experience which will benefit even more patients whose AAAs are detected before rupturing."
This follows the introduction of the company's new mySentry remote glucose monitor in the US market last week.
