Parexel has announced the addition of David Elder, a former senior official of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as vice-president of its strategic compliance services team.
Mr Elder spent 23 years with the high-profile regulatory body, serving as director of regional operations within its office of regulatory affairs and working with professionals from around the world.
He was involved in US and international inspections, recalls and emergencies, speaking in federal court and before the US Congress, as well as representing the FDA during media events.
His appointment to the Parexel strategic compliance unit greatly adds to its expertise and will allow the biopharmaceutical services provider to offer more informed insight to clients on navigating the regulatory environment.
David Chesney, vice-president and practice lead for the strategic compliance services unit at Parexel Consulting, said: "We expect that his extensive experience in conducting inspections and knowledge in areas such as global product safety and quality will greatly benefit our clients."
The business is looking to build on a successful 2011, during which it was named pharmaceutical industry company of the year at the International Business Awards.
