Elsevier to acquire software company Quosa
Elsevier has announced the acquisition of Quosa, a specialist software company that offers content management and workflow productivity solutions for the life science sector.
The purchased business offers platforms and solutions such as Information Manager and Virtual Library and has been operating since 1996, serving clients that include more than half of the top 23 pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
Quosa and Elsevier have been collaborating since 2007, with Quosa's PDF Download Manager being incorporated into the SciVerse Scopus and SciVerse ScienceDirect platforms.
The acquisition solidifies this relationship and will see Quosa's technological capabilities will be developed into Elsevier-branded solutions that can enhance efficiency of the search and discovery process.
Alexander van Boetzelaer, managing director of Elsevier Corporate Markets, said: "Quosa brings to Elsevier an innovative offering and technological expertise that align well with Elsevier today."
Last week, the company announced that its annual Tetrahedron Symposium will take place in two venues this year, with a European event in June 2012 followed by an Asian conference in November.
