Biotronik study shows Home Monitoring benefits for pacemaker patients

8th December 2011

Biotronik has published data from a new clinical study that reinforces the strong efficacy and safety of its Biotronik Home Monitoring system among pacemaker patients.

The recent Compas trial enrolled a total of 583 subjects across 43 centres in order to evaluate the performance of Home Monitoring in the treatment of heart patients, compared to conventional in-clinic care.

It showed that Biotronik's system was able to deliver significant reductions in hospitalisations for atrial arrhythmias and related strokes over the 18-month follow-up period.

According to the manufacturer, these new findings support Biotronik Home Monitoring's status as the remote monitoring system with the best clinical profile in the industry.

Dr Werner Braun, managing director at Biotronik, said: "Given the large numbers of new pacemaker implantations, there is substantial potential for Biotronik Home Monitoring to enhance patient care and reduce administrative burden on the healthcare system."

This comes after the company highlighted data from a trial called Impact last month, showing how Home Monitoring can be used to detect early signs of thromboembolic events.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801233702-ADNFCR
