GE Healthcare appoints new MR business head
GE Healthcare has announced the appointment of Richard Hausmann as general manager of its magnetic resonance (MR) business unit, effective as of January 1st 2012.
Mr Hausmann joins GE Healthcare from his role as chief executive officer (CEO) of the smart grid applications and e-mobility initiative at Siemens Energy, the company at which he has spent a 23-year-long spell.
During this time, he also acted as president and CEO of the Siemens Healthcare computed tomography business, providing him with the experience and technical background needed to succeed in a healthcare-oriented organisation.
Moreover, he has an extensive track record of innovation in MR, having worked in the fields of application development, angiography and fast imaging applications for MR at Siemens.
Tom Gentile, president and CEO of GE Healthcare Systems, said: "His track record of delivering innovative solutions to customers and developing cutting edge technologies that advance patient care fits perfectly with GE's goals for the MR business."
Last month, the company announced a new alliance with Neste Jacobs that will aim to aid governments and pharmaceutical companies with the creation of blood plasma products, thus meeting a pressing global medical need.
