Boston Scientific launches new warranties for leading devices

Boston Scientific has announced that it will be introducing new warranties for its implantable cardioverter defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation therapy defibrillators in several territories.
The extended warranty offer will apply in the US and several other international regions and extends up to ten years depending on the model, which is five years more than most other devices.
It will be available for the new Incepta and Energen ranges, which are being introduced this week, due to new innovations in battery technology that have enhanced the longevity of Boston Scientific's products.
Joe Fitzgerald, senior vice-president and president of Boston Scientific's cardiac rhythm management group, said the company believes creating longer-lasting devices is the "right thing to do".
"It benefits those who are living longer due to advances in device therapy, those who are receiving devices earlier in their lives ... and those who need more frequent device changes," he explained.
Last month, the firm agreed a new deal with Catheter Robotics that will see it market the CRI Amigo remote-controlled catheter system in certain European nations.
