UCB to present new Vimpat data at AES conference

1st December 2011

UCB has announced that it will be presenting new clinical data on its epilepsy drug Vimpat at the American Epilepsy Society (AES) annual meeting.

The company will attend the Baltimore conference in the coming days in order to showcase several key datasets pertaining to the drug, which is an add-on therapy for the treatment of partial-onset seizures in adults with epilepsy.

Results from studies will be published that highlight the long-term performance of the drug in terms of basic efficacy, quality of life improvements and seizure severity.

Dr James Zackheim, senior medical director for the central nervous system business unit at UCB, said it is vital to broaden understanding of Vimpat's clinical profile for the benefit of patients.

"At UCB, we are committed to working towards improving the lives of people living with epilepsy," he added.

Last month, the company announced plans to acquire pharmaceutical assets from Lectus Therapeutics, a move that will help to support the development of new treatments for central nervous system disorders.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801226727-ADNFCR
