GE Healthcare and Neste Jacobs form blood plasma alliance
GE Healthcare has entered into a new collaboration with Neste Jacobs that will aim to improve worldwide access to blood plasma products.
Neste Jacobs, a global expert in plant engineering design and construction, will be combining its expertise with GE Healthcare to offer governments and pharmaceutical companies aid in the construction of plasma fractionation plants.
The companies will be providing an integrated and cost-effective turnkey approach for the construction of the plants, with the ultimate aim of helping countries to become self-sufficient in the production of blood plasma products.
According to GE Healthcare, there is a rising global demand for products of this kind to treat conditions such as shock, trauma, infections, immunological disorders and haemophilia, making this initiative potentially vital.
Olivier Loeillot, general manager of enterprise solutions at GE Healthcare Life Sciences, said: "This is a big step forward in bringing simple yet vital healthcare to people who, up to now, have been denied these treatments."
This comes after the company allied with the East Meets West Foundation last week in order to support the provision of neonatal care technology to developing regions.
