SonoSite launches Edge ultrasound system

SonoSite has announced the introduction of a new ultrasound tool that aims to deliver better performance and more consistent patient care quality.

The Edge ultrasound system has been specially designed with physician feedback in mind and has commenced customer deliveries in the US, with international shipments subject to receiving CE Mark approval.

A fifth-generation device, it incorporates new imaging algorithms, deeper levels of penetration and a high-luminance LED display, providing physicians with bright, crisp and detailed images.

SonoSite also guarantees that the Edge system has passed the company's rigorous durability standards, ensuring it can withstand the demands of clinical environments.

Kevin Goodwin, SonoSite's president and chief executive officer, said: "We look forward to adding this new tool to our core markets and providing physicians with the impact they have been asking for in healthcare delivery."

This comes after the company announced earlier this week that Richard Salzar has been named as its new vice-president and general manager of Europe, Russia and Africa.
