Biotest reports positive business trends for 2011

15th November 2011

Biotest has published its interim financial results for the first nine months of 2011, during which it experienced year-on-year growth.

The company's revenue total for the first three quarters came to 311.9 million euros (266.41 million pounds), up by 1.9 percent compared to 2010, while its profit before tax figure rose by 31.1 percent.

Key contributing factors in Biotest's recent growth include the sale of its microbiology monitoring business interests to Merck KGaA, which was completed on August 1st 2011.

Among continuing operations, biotherapeutics was a major sales growth contributor thanks to its ongoing alliance with Abbott.

This partnership concerns the development and commercialisation of a new monoclonal antibody called BT-061, with the success of this scheme helping to offset the challenges faced by its plasma proteins segment.

The company now expects to meet its financial targets as outlined in its half-year report, with sales forecast to rise by a low single-digit percentage.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801212081-ADNFCR
