Systagenix launches innovative wound assessment test

15th November 2011

Systagenix has announced the launch of a groundbreaking new point-of-care testing system for use in the assessment of chronic wounds.

The Woundchek Protease Status testing device has been developed in collaboration between Systagenix and the Scarborough division of life science company Alere.

It is able to rapidly measure the level of elevated protease activity in chronic wounds, which can be a key indicator of clinical outcomes, allowing clinicians to target treatments more precisely.

This is the first product of the collaboration between Systagenix and Alere, which began in 2010 with the aim of developing diagnostic testing markers for wound condition assessment and patient management.

Ernest Waaser, chief executive officer of Systagenix, said: "Our goal is to position Systagenix as the leader in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic systems that enable clinicians to heal every wound predictably and cost effectively."

This comes after the company announced the appointment of Oern Sturge and Jack Wilkens to positions on its board earlier this month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801211583-ADNFCR
