Ansell launches new Gammex surgical glove
Ansell has signalled the European launch of its Gammex powder-free glove with AMT antimicrobial technology.
Introduced in Australia last year, the product features an antimicrobial layer containing chlorhexidine gluconate, which provides an additional level of protection against viruses and bacteria for surgical staff.
The Gammex gloves are made of natural rubber latex and have been described by the company as a significant step in encouraging a change from passive protection to active protection.
"This unique and proprietary AMT Antimicrobial Technology reduces surgical staff risks of exposure to blood-borne pathogens through a higher level of protection," said Ansell chief executive Magnus Nicolin.
He added that the company "has great expectations that this glove will take patient protection to another level".
The product was introduced at the Annual Congress of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Perth, Australia in May this year.
Ansell has said it will now be progressively rolled out across all the company's markets.
