Hologic has made two new additions to its portfolio of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) devices.
The Sentinelle two-channel Endo Coil for pelvic and prostate imaging and the Sentinelle 16-channel Breast Coil for Siemens TIM, Aera and Skyra platforms will soon be available to users.
Designed for the detection and treatment of breast and prostate cancers, both devices were added to the company's MRI product line-up following approval from US regulators.
"We are excited about the possibilities these new products bring healthcare professionals for finding and treating breast and prostate cancer at the earliest stage possible," said Peter Soltani, senior vice-president and general manager of Hologic's breast health division.
The Endo Coil should be ready for product shipments in 2012 following final release processes from Siemens and Toshiba, while the 16-channel array is currently pending validation by Siemens.
Investors are awaiting Hologic's fourth-quarter fiscal 2011 results, which will be published on Monday November 7th.
