Advanced Medical Solutions reports positive LiquiBand study data
Advanced Medical Solutions has reported a positive outcome from a new pilot study of LiquiBand, its topical skin adhesive.
The company has completed a US-based trial of the fast-polymerising medical grade adhesive, which has been successfully used in Europe for topical skin closure for the last decade.
This latest trial specifically addressed the use of dermal adhesives on scalp wounds, with participating physicians assessing ease of use, closure time, wound appearance and complications.
Medical professionals involved in the study evaluated the product highly in terms of these criteria, while patients said they preferred using LiquiBand to traditional staples or sutures, due to the reduced levels of pain.
Chris Meredith, chief executive officer of Advanced Medical Solutions, said: "This small pilot study clearly supports what we already knew, namely that LiquiBand can be used safely for rapid closure of simple scalp lacerations with minimal pain and excellent cosmetic outcomes."
Last month, the company reported that it saw strong financial results in the first six months of 2011, thanks in part to the encouraging performance of LiquiBand.
