Amgen has expanded its board of directors with the appointment of Robert Bradway to a new role.
President and chief operating officer Mr Bradway has been with the organisation since 2006, joining from Morgan Stanley in the role of vice-president for operational strategy.
He served as chief financial officer between April 2007 and May 2010 and is also a member of the board of directors at Norfolk Southern, while his time with Morgan Stanley saw him handle a number of healthcare-focused roles of increasing responsibility.
The addition of Mr Bradway to the Amgen board brings the total membership of the group to 13.
Last month, the pharmaceutical company attended the 2011 European Multidisciplinary Cancer Congress in Stockholm, where it presented data on a number of new oncology therapies.
These included numerous abstracts detailing the performance of key products such as Xgeva and Vectibix in clinical trials, with data drawn from phase II and phase III studies.
