Idexx Laboratories launches digital imaging app for tablets

Idexx Laboratories has announced the launch of a new veterinary digital imaging application for use with tablet computers.

The Idexx I-Vision Mobile app is available for iPad or Android devices and is the first product of its kind, allowing users to request, view and send images via the Idexx I-Vision CR or Idexx-DR 1417 digital imaging systems.

Integrating seamlessly with the Idexx-PACS imaging software, the application allows users to manipulate and interact with digital radiography scans using touch-based controls, making it easy to browse menus.

The app has been developed by the same production team responsible for the Idexx-PACS imaging software and delivers many of the same functions.

Penny Guyton, director of marketing for Idexx Digital, said: "Veterinarians have asked us for ways to make digital imaging portable so they can expedite patient care and work more efficiently."

Earlier this month, the company announced that it is integrating the services of DVMInsight into its veterinary telemedicine unit as it seeks to improve its product offering.
