St Jude Medical launches compact Unify Quadra CRT-D
St Jude Medical has announced the European launch of a compact new cardiac resynchronisation therapy defibrillator (CRT-D) with the smallest footprint in the industry.
The new Unify Quadra device offers all the traditional functionality and benefits of a quadripolar pacing system in a narrow and reduced form, making it easy to implant and leaving the patient with only a small scar.
It utilises similar technology to the Promote Quadra CRT-D introduced last year, integrating multiple pacing configurations and allowing physicians to make changes to the system without the need for additional surgery.
The device also features an enhanced left ventricular pacing lead and is fully compliant with regulations from the International Standards Organization.
Dr Eric Fain, president of the St Jude Medical cardiac rhythm management division, said: "This innovative CRT system has the potential to redefine the standard of care in resynchronisation therapy for heart failure patients around the world."
Earlier this month, the company was granted European regulatory approval for the Genesis neurostimulation system for chronic migraine treatments.
